School Values
Florey Primary School prides itself on its commitment to a set of core values which comprise an integral component of the hidden and explicit curriculums.
Children from K-6 are explicitly taught social skills each week which serve to build each child's knowledge and understanding of the importance of school values. These values are:
- tolerance and inclusion
- respect
- excellence.
An understanding of and commitment to school values is necessary for all students to contribute to the creating and sustaining a safe school profile.
Children from K-6 are acknowledged and rewarded for their demonstration of school values through unit and school merit awards as well as personalised/targeted feedback from visitors and staff. Values education is further promoted through circle time, class meetings and the SRC forum.
Participation in community programs and local initiatives enable children to actively practise citizenship and display commitment to school values in alternative learning contexts. The Student of the Month incentive rewards a senior and junior student (each month) who has demonstrated an outstanding display of the core school values and a commitment to achieving academic excellence.
